The new parade at Disneyland, Magic Happens premiered this past week. There was a special early preview of the parade on Thursday, with the official opening on Friday. The new parade has some mixed reviews. From the Weeklyteers in our chat that have seen it, they liked it. Others online thought it wasn’t a good Disney parade. After viewing videos online of the parade during the day and in the evening, this is certainly better experienced in the evening. A new Dulche de Leche Sundae has premiered with the Magic Happens parade. The sundae is served in a blue waffle bowl with two scoops of dulce de leche ice cream, bananas, caramel drizzle, and topped with a Mickey shaped sugar cookie, whipped cream, and a cherry on top. If you are looking for something sweet, head over to the Plaza Inn to check out their newest dessert! The new cake is inspired by the leading float of the new Magic Happens Parade. The Sorcerer Mickey Cake is a layered white cake with cream cheese frosting and a berry filling. It is decorated with a dark blue icing covered with an edible gold sparkle dust and stars, and topped with a chocolate dipped waffle cone sorcerer hat and two chocolate Mickey ears. The Food and Wine Festival started in Disney California Adventure this past week and there is a ton of merchandise to purchase. With the Food and Wine Festival, the popular Sip & Savor pass has also returned. The pass includes 8 coupons that can be redeemed for food and beverages, excluding alcohol and souvenir items. The pass is $56 and includes tax, or $51 for annual passholders. As of the date of us recording this episode, the Indiana Jones Adventure is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Some specialty items were available like a collectible Funko pop and an Indiana Jones tee. Food items that were available include a chocolate Dole Whip, a shaker style salad with crunchy noodles, or a rib bowl with Cantonese barbecue sauce and steamed rice. The Tropical Hideaway has added to their menu again! Dole whip flavors include pineapple, mango, raspberry, and lemon. A new Raspberry-Lemon float has been spotted on the menu. The float starts with a blend of passion fruit, orange and guava, with swirls of raspberry and lemon dole whip, then topped with a candied kiwi slice and diced mangoes and strawberries tossed in a sweet syrup. The rim is coated in toasted coconut bits. If savory foods are more your thing, check out the Loco Moco Bao. This past Sunday, the third annual Adventureland Day took place at Disneyland. Guests dressed up in their best Adventureland attire, rode on the world famous Jungle Cruise, explored a forbidden temple with Indiana Jones, and took part in a treasure hunt. The big story on all the news outlets this week is Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. Disneyland is attempting to get ahead of the spread by adding automated hand sanitizer stations to almost every counter service restaurant. The CDC recommeds washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, but if you can’t make it to a restroom, hand sanitizer is the next best thing. A new Disney Parks Lanyard and Mickey Mouse Pin Trading Bag has come to Disneyland. The new lanyard is $12.99 and has Mickey balloons on one side and attraction icons on the other side. The new pin trading bag is a messenger-style bag, available for $49.99. There is a Mickey Mouse patch, and Disney Pin Trading pull-tabs on the zippers. There are a number of liners inside to pin your collection to. For even more pins, there is a larger Mickey Mouse messenger bag for pin trading. Previously, we reported on a PB&J treat at the Tropical Hideaway. This time, there is a new slush drink that is PB&J themed. A grape slush is swirled with peanut butter and topped with a cinnamon sugar donut. With the high winds around the resort this past week, some of the scrims were rolled down, revealing the new paint scheme for Snow White’s Scary Adventures. The old, muted colors have been replaced with a more bright, vivid color scheme. The Disneyland Resort has been awarded the 2019 SEAL Business Sustainability Award for it’s environmental efforts and commitment to water conservation.
